Good news!

Heard on the news this morning that the free/low cost spay/neutering program has been re-instated!

Monday, March 23, 2009

e-mail your city council person!

If you are upset with the decision to end the free and low cost spay/neutering program, a decision made by Ed Boks manager of the Dept of Animal services, then contact your city council either by phone or e-mail and ask them to have this program re-instated.

Pinching pennies - throwing away Dollar$$$$$

The decision of the Ed Boks the manager of the city's department of Animal Services, to suspend the program for free or discounted spay and neutering program is akin to pinching pennies and throwing away dollar$$$. While it may cost more to offer free or discounted services to pet owners in the short term, it will save taxpayers' dollars in the long term. Anyone with common sense knows that prevention is key to decreasing the number of animals that show up in the city shelters. Please call your city council members today and urge them to re-instate this vital program!

where are the approx. 46,000 provisional ballots ?

If your ballot was among the approx. 46,000 provisional ballots that still haven't been counted you can call the City Clerk at 1-213-978-0444. Many of those votes come from Council District 5 where Suzy Evans should have received numerous votes along with Walter Moore.
I also understand people can go to watch the tally being done. The hours are between 8-5.

post election

I really am disappointed in the fact that Villiaraigosa will continue to be the photo op mayor of LA instead of a qualified candidate such as Walter Moore. However despite the dismal voter turn out, Walter Moore didn't do bad - 26.27% of the votes. And yes Villiaraigosa had 55.56% but it was not the sweeping victory the news media had tooted and less then the 60% or more they had predicted.
see ELECTION NIGHT RESULTS (UNOFFICIAL)

While Kathleen Suzy Evans didn't win the controller seat, she did come in second over Nick Patsaouras who was better known. Quite a achievement and it shows you how hard this lady can work for something she believes in.

Kudos to both Moore and Evans as well as David Berger and Harry "Craig" Wilson for stepping up to the plate and working hard to change the city of Los Angeles. And kudos to those who got out and voted for them. We need more like them.

Election Day is here!

Today is the day to take control and pick who is going to run the city of LA for the next four years! Instead of Villaraigosa who has no interest in the city of LA other then using it for a spring board for Governor, why not vote for some one who really cares about being mayor - Walter Moore! the choice is simple - Villaraigosa the photo-op mayor or Walther Moore who will be a Mayor! As for controller Kathleen "Suzy" Evans is the best person for the job.

Now is the time to put your voting privilege to work and get to the polls! Every vote counts and yes you can make a difference!

Less then 90 years later.....

I keep reading that the prediction for voter turn out for the election on March 3rd will be very low, even less then the previous election 4 years ago. It seems most of the people living in LA don't care who runs their city which is very sad. In fact they don't seem to even care about the fact that there is a possibility of the present mayor Villaraigosa - if re-elected- will bail on his responsibilities to the city of Los Angeles to run for Governor of Calif. next year. Why would you settle for that when you have qualified candidates such as Walter Moore?

What is even more tragic is the fact among those who will fail to exercise their right to vote in this election are women. How soon people forget that less then 90 years ago women in the US did not have the right to vote.
On Aug. 26, 1920, the 19th Amendment granted the ballot to American women.
And of the three people running for the office of city controller, two are women - Wendy Greuel and Kathleen "Suzy" Evans!
Bottom line is if you don't get out and vote things won't change. If you are a register voter and can't figure out where your polling place is you can call: 1-888-873-1000 or 1-213-978-0444 or go to: http://lavote.net/locator/

French Dip & Mayor debate

I have to say that Steve Lopez's attempt to get Villaraigosa to debate with other opponents for mayor is a unique one even if Villaraigosa didn't think it was worth his time. Too bad, which makes one wonder, just what is he afraid of????
Not even a French dip sandwich contest can lure Mayor Villaraigosa to debate

Just one more reason to vote for Walter Moore! At least he's not afraid to show up. God knows where Villaraigosa will be two weeks after the election if he wins. Probably out trying to raise money and votes for his shot at governor, now that's a scary thought!
