Los Angeles City Attorney

There are 5 gentleman running for the office of Los Angeles City Attorney.
The candidates are:
Micheal Amerian, David Berger, Carmen Trutanich, Noel Weiss and Jack Weiss.

The media seems to be making this race between just 2 of the candidates: Jack Weiss and Carmen Trutanich. After looking over their record, I don't like either of them.

So that leaves us with the 3 others on the ballot, all of whom look like quality candidates. This was a tough one for me, but after doing some research I like David Berger best for City Attorney. Visit his website and take a look at his blog too to see what I mean.

“sanctuary city” status = discrimination

The more I look at Walter Moore's website, the more I am impressed with him versus the present mayor Villaraigosa. I agree with Walter Moore about ending the “sanctuary city” status of Los Angeles. Over the past three years I have seen more and more 'day labors' to the point I no longer feel comfortable going to places like Home depot.

Even going to the cemetery has become a challenge due to the number of 'street vendors' hocking flowers along the side of the street leading to the cemetery on the weekends. Forest Lawn in the Hollywood Hills area is a nightmare. I don't know how many times I narrowly escaped a accident because I had to dodge the cars in front of me when someone decided to stop and buy flowers from these people.

Forest Lawn does sell flowers as well as local flower shops, markets and you can get some good deals at the Studio City farmer's market on Sunday. And they aren't any more expensive then what the 'road side vendor' is asking.

The road side vendors pay no rent like the legitimate businesses because they are using public property to carry out their business. They do not have a business license to sell and they pay no taxes! Isn't it unfair to those who obey the city laws, pay for licenses, rent a building or space, pay for utilities and pay taxes? The “sanctuary city” status is discrimination against legitimate business owners.

Another term?

I am very disappointed in Villaraigosa's performance in office. Instead of seeing improvements in Los Angeles, things seem to be going backwards. I see Villaraigosa on TV a lot but I don't find much substance in what he has to say. It's like he just showed up for a photo op and nothing else. If he is elected to another term I hate to think of what will happen.

I have looked at Walter Moore's website and he seems to make sense.

Los Angeles was once a desirable place to live but not any more. Isn't it time to give someone else a chance to turn this city around and go forwards not backwards?

Does anyone care about the upcoming election???

I haven't seen any thing on the TV news regarding the upcoming elections for the city of Los Angeles. In fact I even bought the LA Times on Sunday and if there was anything about it I must have missed it. Does anyone care that Villaraigosa isn't the only one running for mayor, that there are others such as Walter Moore?

And what about city controller? Besides Wendy Greuel and Nick Patsaouras, there is Kathleen Suzy Evans. Isn't it time to concentrate on local issues and the people who will be handling them?

Welcome to My Blog

Hi, I'm Patricia. This blog is specifically designed to discuss the city elections this year.

I am concerned with the way things are going in Los Angeles, the lack of positive change, and the lack of news media attention for qualified candidates.
Examples are those that are running for Los Angeles City Mayor, Controller and City Attorney.

Please feel free to share your comments on these important races.
