“sanctuary city” status = discrimination

The more I look at Walter Moore's website, the more I am impressed with him versus the present mayor Villaraigosa. I agree with Walter Moore about ending the “sanctuary city” status of Los Angeles. Over the past three years I have seen more and more 'day labors' to the point I no longer feel comfortable going to places like Home depot.

Even going to the cemetery has become a challenge due to the number of 'street vendors' hocking flowers along the side of the street leading to the cemetery on the weekends. Forest Lawn in the Hollywood Hills area is a nightmare. I don't know how many times I narrowly escaped a accident because I had to dodge the cars in front of me when someone decided to stop and buy flowers from these people.

Forest Lawn does sell flowers as well as local flower shops, markets and you can get some good deals at the Studio City farmer's market on Sunday. And they aren't any more expensive then what the 'road side vendor' is asking.

The road side vendors pay no rent like the legitimate businesses because they are using public property to carry out their business. They do not have a business license to sell and they pay no taxes! Isn't it unfair to those who obey the city laws, pay for licenses, rent a building or space, pay for utilities and pay taxes? The “sanctuary city” status is discrimination against legitimate business owners.
